How to eat better while on the road

Hey guys,

If you’re anything like me, when you’re away from home anything goes.

You eat out for every meal.

You go to fast food restaurants.

You go off your diet.

You throw shit to the wind and say what the heck. What will this hurt?

Well, it can hurt a lot. With all the research out there about the foods you put in your body, you have to stay at the top of your game.

Travel can put a huge strain on your body: to sleep in a new bed every night or even in the back of the van. The best thing you can do is stay in control of what you consume and stay healthy.

Here are some tips on how to eat better while on a tour:

Fast Food Restaurants.

  • Choose wisely: Instead of that hamburger, does the restaurant offer soups or salads to eat? Instead of something fried, can you get it grilled? Keeping these things in mind will really help in the long run.

Car snacks.

  • While stopping at a gas station for snacks, choose trail mix or fruit over the bag of chips. Get some baby carrots to munch on instead of pretzels. Choose a bottle of water over a bottle of soda.

Stay hydrated.

  • Pack a lot of water and make the time to stop for bathroom breaks. Your body will thank you. Stopping more often will also give you time to stretch it out.

Diet vs full sugar soda?

  • Can you choose a diet soda over the full sugar soda? Can you choose a sparkling water over a soda at all? Sometimes all I want is the bubbles from a soda and so a sparkling water is satisfying enough.

Riders.

  • If you get a rider at the venue, put healthy food on your rider. Don’t even tempt yourself with candy or chips. Put a bowl of fruit, vegetable tray. Ask for a sandwich tray so you don’t munch on unhealthy snacks all night.

Why Your Band Can’t Survive on Bandcamp

Bandcamp is a great way to start with a website. It’s a hub where you can put your music up for free, list your social media handles, put up a small bio, sell your merchandise, and promote your music.

But it’s not good enough if you want to take the next step in your music career.

Think of bands out there that you really like.

Go to their websites. Here are a few examples:

Taylor Swift

Florence and the Machine

The Killers

See how each website is designed in a way to reflect their music, their style and their personas?

Bandcamp features everything in one place, but it can’t be designed to match you or your band.

This is why a website is so important to make it look the way you want, to show people who you are, to catch their eye, and pull them in.

Your fans don’t just want to see or hear your music, they want to connect with you. They want to think you’re cool and also have it be proven that you’re cool.

Putting your music and a photo on Bandcamp doesn’t reveal who you are the way a streamlined designed website would.

With a website, you can pull your fans in, show them who you are. Ultimately, you want your fans to engage with you by:

  • Coming to a show,
  • Signing up for your newsletter, or
  • Buying your music & merchandise.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve discovered plenty of great music and bands on Bandcamp. I love it and think it’s a great way to start out with you band or music.

I’m talking about if you’re ready to step out from the safety of Bandcamp.

If you’re ready to change up what you’ve been doing for years that isn’t working anymore.

If you’re ready to really show the world who you are.

If you’re ready to take a giant step in your music career.

The world is on their phones, that’s how we work. Social media, websites and emails rule our waking worlds.

Bandcamp is a great way to start with your presence online. A custom designed website separates you from being a beginner to a professional musician.

Click here if you’re ready to show the world the rockstar within!
